Coincidence? err...I think so

Writing a blog is one tough job! Its been nearly three weeks since my first post and the procrastinator in me was quite persistent in convincing me that "its okay not to blog often". Anyway, its the last day of the decade and I wanted to write something here so that the momentum of my blog-writing will not be lost in the 2010 excitement.

So....Coincidences! that is what I wanted to write about. Small, everyday and insignificant ones which make you go "Wow, what a coincidence" and makes you forget all about them the next minute. You know, like when you are thinking of your friend and just then the phone rings and its her on the phone and you say "I was just thinking of you.....". And your friend says "Me toooo". You squeal and say wow and then move onto talk about something else, forgetting all about it.

The last few weeks have been "coincidentially" eventful, come to think of it. For one thing, I was leaving my job after more than two years there and it just occurred to me that my last month at work was also the last month of the decade. To add to that, my last two days at my old job were the first two days of my brother's new job. December 15/16 2009! And, what's funny is that next year my office (or former office I should say) was shifting to World Trade Centre and Sulai's office was in World Trade Centre as well (though in two different cities but it doesn't matter). So literally I moved out of WTC while Sulai was moving into WTC, on the same days. Coincidence? Of course!

They organised a farewell for me at work, a small get together where someone had to say something polite about me, and I had to have a fixed smile on my face and everyone was able whack on cake on my behalf. The farewell was on December 10, which was chosen cos everyone was in office that day but what they didn't know was that December 10 was also UN Human Rights Day. I loved the fact that I was literally saying bye bye to my work, which was on human rights, on Human Rights Day. It was pretty symbolic!

I know this person called Ineke who I sometimes work with, and one Friday, I was calling her office to speak to her, and just that very minute, she was sending me an email. She picked up my call and said "Sarah! you're definitely a psychic". I guess we were thinking of each other exactly at the same time i.e. 1.03pm. I rarely call her and she rarely mails me so it was really weird. Whats odd was that this was the third time it was happening with Ineke. I guess she and I share some kind of telepathic vibe! This often happens with my best friend too. I think of her and she immediately calls me up, or she thinks of me and I call her. But we go a long way back, to the days we used to eat crayon and clay at school so I guess there's some invisible bond we share, cemented with clay and broken chalk.

Being colour coordinated without actually planning to, is also coincidental, especially when it happens more than once. Whenever my friends and I meet, we are usually wearing clothes in similar shades. One day its orange/red, another day its different shades of violet. So I guess when we go to our wardrobe to dress up for our get togethers, our brains become one and we think colour-fully alike. Maybe! what other explanation could be there?

I'm confused about coincidences! Are these simply events which have no connection to each other and I decided to label it "coincidence" because they had some meaning in my life? Maybe! whatever it is, I dont need Einstein-fy it and analyse it. I like the fact that these odd events make my life more colourful and blogging about it will make me remember these random but nice moments.

Thats it from me then. My end-of-the-decade post hopefully made sense so I shall sign off for now. and oh yeah, before I forget....Happy 2010 :)
