from rambuttan to tipitip

the worst part about missing home is missing your favourite food. the everyday breakfast or dinner, the hanging-out-with-your-friends special, the seasonal fruit and your favourite movie time munchies. so i wanted to capture in one post all my favourite food stuff from Colombo, ignoring my watering mouth and my grumbling belly. so here is my personal all time favourite list  -

(by the way, if anyone reads this in Colombo, please take this as a sign to visit the nearest Perera and Sons to wolf down a maalu bunnis).

Paan parippu (made at home by Karu)

Aapam and Katta sambol, Cafe on the 5th

Rambuttan

 Tipitip

Maalu bun, Perera and Sons

Chocolate cake from Royal bakery

Thembili (i know you get this in India as well, but not as sweet and yummy)

Pittu and fish curry

Blueberry cheesecake, Bars

Lavariya, my morning breakfast bought by my dad

Prawn Vada, at Galle Face

Kotthu, from Pilawoos

Guava juice, at Roots

and last and not in the least bit least, Mint Choc Chip icecream (with wafers and prunes), at Carnival

long time no write

its been more than two years since i've written an actual post here (forget the one which says you're not forgotten, dear blog. i was clearly lying). the last two januaries, both 2012 and 2013, i've been meaning to write something here, but clearly blogging was at the bottom of my to-do list for the year. so this time, i will somehow keep myself motivated to post the two pending january blogs. the first of which will be about all things food i miss in Sri Lanka and the second will be a quick look at last year.

so here goes...wish me luck and hope i dont fall asleep before i click "publish".
